Khaled Hassan Rashed
Khaled has over 20 years of solid experience in the financial sector. Prior to Sameem, he was the CEO of CORECAP, an alternative investment firm in Dubai, Board Member and CEO of Amwal Investment Bank in Qatar, Vice President of Abraaj Capital, Vice President of Ajman Bank and Manager of Direct Equities in Dubai Islamic Bank. He started his career as a corporate banker at the Commercial International Bank in Egypt.
His transactional track record includes advising on CERT, the US$ 100M first government backed venture capital fund in Abu Dhabi; structuring CIPEF, the US$ 150M world’s first Sharia’a compliant mezzanine fund; managing CSOF, one of the Region’s first event-driven hedge fund; leading Amwal to become the premier investment bank in Qatar and participating in realizing a 101% IRR on its sale, the highest IRR ever achieved on a private equity exit in the MENA region. He has also participated in underwriting the US$ 337M Ithmaar Bank IPO, the first non-Qatari IPO in Qatar; managing the QAR 1bn first Qatari mutual fund, Amwal’s proprietary portfolio which outperformed the Qatari market by over 60%; and Dubai Islamic Bank’s US$ 150M proprietary private equity book. He was also involved in the acquisition of a strategic stake in Tameer-Bahrain, the first real estate company to go public on the Bahraini stock exchange and in financing Sokhna Port, the first BOOT port in Egypt and Amoun, the largest Egyptian pharmaceutical company.
Khaled’s track record has been recognized by numerous authorities in the Middle East. Under his leadership, CORECAP was acknowledged as a New Champion by the World Economic Forum and selected as a member of the community of Global Growth Companies in 2008; and Amwal was awarded the “Leading Investment Firm in Qatar” in 2006. In 2009, Khaled was awarded “Entrepreneur CEO of the Year” by ITP. He was also chosen as one of the Gulf’s 50 Most Admired Executives by CEO Middle East magazine. He was voted a Young Arab Leader by the YAL Association – UAE and was selected as an honored member of the International “Who’s Who” historical society. He is a board member of the UAE chapter of the CEO Club, part of the world’s largest business association. He is also a member of the Gulf Venture Capital Association, Arab Bankers Association, the Egyptian Capital Market Association and the UAE French Business Council.
Khaled holds a Master’s degree in International Business Administration from ESLSCA University in France and a B.A in Business Administration (English Section) from Helwan University in Egypt and has obtained various international financial certifications.
